I have gotten a number of requests asking how I get my hairstyle now that my hair has grown back after chemo, so I decided to bring in a pro, my wonderful hair stylist, Emir. Together we wrote a How To get the "Joan Lunden Do" blog, but we also wanted to show you how we do it. Take a look!

Products we use:

Tips from Emir:

  1. A volumizing spray will make short hair stand up better and will give you fullness.

  2. You can substitute a styling gel instead of using a volume mousse, but be sure to get one that will not dry out your hair.

  3. If you have fine, straight hair, you will need more mousse. When applying, make sure you saturate your hair for best results.

  4. When you are drying hair, make sure you are lifting the hair up for added volume.

  5. Use warm heat when drying and directing or shaping hair. When hair begins to cool, it will begin to set.

  6. Once your hair is dry, you can backcomb the hair on the top of your head to add some texture.

  7. Top off your look with hairspray so that your style will hold all day long. Try to find a brushable hairspray so it does not make your hair too stiff and tough.
