Dr. z pumpkin oatmeal

This is a great choice before your workout and on those chilly fall mornings. Steel-cut oats have no gluten, so they are not a problem for anyone who is grain-sensitive or suffers from Celiac disease.

Pumpkin Oatmeal Recipe: Serves 4, Calories per serving: 360

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup steel-cut oats
  • 1/4 cup canned unsweetened pumpkin (organic preferred)
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin-pie spice* (or cinnamon)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon agave syrup
  • Chopped raw walnuts (optional)

Directions:

Follow cooking instructions for steel-cut oats. While it cooks, mix in canned pumpkin and all remaining ingredients.

*If the pumpkin spice has refined sugar in it, use plain cinnamon instead.
