TODAY Show: Joan with Patrick Dempsey at The Dempsey Challenge
Last week I traveled up to Maine so that I could attend The Dempsey Challenge, a run, walk and bike fundraising event held by The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing to raise money so their services can remain free! The Patrick Dempsey Center was founded by Patrick Dempsey (some of you may know him better as Mc. Dreamy) and his two sisters in honor of their mother who passed away from ovarian cancer. This year, The Dempsey Challenge drew in nearly 4,000 participants, raising more than $1.1 million!
I sat down with Patrick for a special #PinkPowerToday story and we talked about his mother, Amanda's passion to give back after her cancer diagnosis and how important help centers (like The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing) can be to a community, family and individual before, during and after cancer treatment.
